About Me
When I'm not busy as a User Experience Designer at Roundarch, or working on independent projects for small businesses and non-profits, I sit around and do absolutely nothing. Just kidding.
Spending time with my wife and son is always at the top of my list. And while we dread the Chicago winters, it's a great place to live. We recently traveled to my wife's home country of Ecuador. Warm sunny days, active volcanoes, incredible food, family and new friends. Can't wait to go back.
I moved to Chicago in 1998. Having tried a 4 month stint of living in the mountains northwest of Boulder, Colorado, I arrived in the Windy City broke, bearded and wondering what was next. After sleeping on a couch for 2 months and working as a cook at Fizz Bar and Grill, I moved into a friend's empty dining room and began waiting tables at a popular suburban restaurant. Every college graduate's dream! In early summer of 1999, I started working in the internet industry as an online recruiter. Ever since, this crazy industry has had its hooks in me.
In 2006, I earned a Masters degree in Human-Computer Interaction from DePaul University. I'm passionate about design, technology, music and yes, comic books. Completely lazy when it comes to online social networks, I find twitter appealing because of its minimalist personality. Facebook is over the top and leaves nothing sacred. Do you hear me? Faceboooooooook!
Ahem, sorry about that. My current area of research is Emotional Design and learning about how the intertwining of cognition and emotion affects both designer and user.
